Specifications include, but are not limited to: 1. Installing, maintaining, and repairing ventilation and air conditioning systems and equipment. 2. Identifying maintenance risks on equipment. 3. Diagnosing electrical and mechanical faults for HVAC systems. 4. Cleaning, adjusting, and repairing systems, and performing warranty services. 5. Performing emergency repairs promptly and efficiently. 6. Ensuring compliance with appliance standards and with Occupational Health and Safety Act. 7. Complying with service standards, work instructions and customers' requirements. 8. Understands and has mastered the refrigeration cycles to include identifying components in advanced refrigeration circuits, understanding how each component works, diagnosing and correcting problems in the refrigeration circuit, using manifold gauge set, pressure/temperature chart and temperature measuring devices for routine maintenance and to troubleshoot. 9. Understands refrigeration recovery, evacuation, and charging, and understands the installation and sizing of refrigerant piping. 10. Understands and has mastered the heating cycle to include identifying components in heating system, understanding how each component works, diagnosing problems in the heating system using a gas pressure test and other devices for routine maintenance and to troubleshoot and repair. 11. Understands and has mastered electron theory, how electricity travels, AC and DC currents, single phase and three phase circuits, and series and parallel circuits. 12. Ability to read wiring-advanced wiring diagrams. Knowledge of Ohms Law. 13. Ability to use multi-meters to read voltage, current and resistance values. 14. Must be able to troubleshoot advanced electrical circuits. 15. Understands the process of treating air to simultaneously control its temperature, humidity, cleanliness, and distribution. 16. Ability to use a psychometric chart to determine the results of mixing air having various properties. 17. Understands and has mastered all types of HVAC systems and how each component within the system operates in conjunction with the other components and how that impacts the overall operations of the system. 18. These systems include, but are not limited to, air cooled, water cooled, hot water systems, chilled water systems, VAV systems, steam heating systems and building automation control systems. 19. The City of Carrollton, at its discretion, reserves the right to supply materials to complete certain jobs. 20. Complete work in a SAFE, timely, neat, and professional manner. 21. Must be professional, courteous, and respectful to customers, as well as fellow employees. 22. Communicate effectively with customers, management, and dispatchers. Vendors’ dispatched technician must use cell phone to ensure communication in the performance of work for the City of Carrollton or if on-the-job problems that arise. 23. All safety procedures should follow industry standards and any concerns should be brought to the Fleet and Facilities Manager prior to work performed.
