Specifications include, but are not limited to: Construction of Positive -Offset Left and Right Turn Lanes for Each KY 11 Approach. The intent of this project is to construct the necessary pavement width to reconfigure the intersection to position the left and right turn lanes in the KY 11 approaches at positive -offsets. This will be accomplished by work described in the below sub - sections. Refer to the Typical Sections, Plan Sheet, Construction Detail Sheet s, Pavement and Pipe Extension Detail Sheet, Striping Detail Sheets, and Pavement Markings Summary for details and location information. See the various Special Notes for other detail information.; Pavement Widening. Work will include milling/trenching into the shoulder pavement and into the adjacent earth shoulder from the existing edgeline; constructing perforated pipe and perforated pipe headwalls; constructing the layers of the proposed pavement structure; performing necessary earthwork for slope regrading; performing asphalt milling and texturing for edge keying the proposed asphalt surface course into the existing surface; and constructing edgeline and centerline rumble strips and the final pavement striping and markings. It is not anticipated that additional earthwork will be required to bring the proposed side slopes to the grades shown on the Plans at the specified locations. The earth shoulder material milled/trenched from place to construct the widened pavement structure should be suitable to be used as fill for the proposed side slopes. The earth material repurposed from excavation, for bid purposes, will be quantified as Embankment -In -Place. An estimate of this anticipated quantity is included in the Proposal. The Engineer will make the final determination as to the suitability of the excavated material for re -use and the quantities required to complete the work based on the existing conditions encountered during construction.; Drainage Improvements. Proposed drainage features are identified on the Pipe Extension Summary, Edge Drain Detail Sheet, Construction Detail Sheets, and Pipe Sections. Work involves construction of perforated pipe and perforated pipe headwalls; removing culvert headwalls to extend a culvert pipe and remove a drop box inlet to extend a culvert pipe; construction of new sloped and flared box inlet -outlets and a drop box inlet type 1; and performing necessary grading to ensure positive drainage. For the pipe extensions, remove the existing headwall and first section of existing RCP attached to the headwall (approx. 3 to 4 ft of existing pipe). Refer to the summaries, plan sheets, and detail sheetsfor location and specification information.
