Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Louisville Metro Waste Management District (WMD) is seeking proposals from qualified firms to collect garbage and recycling materials from up to 450 households and garbage from up to 150 nonrecycling households in three distinct areas within Jefferson County, to sort the materials into appropriate categories, and to analyze and deliver data on the capture of recyclables. The vendor will be provided statistical data from the WMD and will assist in identifying areas based on their experience conducting these studies. Jefferson County includes three distinct service areas: An urban area that is serviced by city employees, eighty-two (82) home rule cities plus an unknown number of homeowners’ associations – many of which have contracted waste services – and unincorporated areas that are serviced through subscription service that are collected by up to 6 different licensed waste collectors. The complexity of the service areas and the various demographics within them should be factored into the studies.
