Specifications include, but are not limited to: On a case-by-case basis, Legal Counsel may be retained whenever litigation is initiated prior to filing of a claim and Legal Counsel will be required to: 1. Be thoroughly knowledgeable about Utah law pertaining to worker’s compensation claims and administrative procedures; 2. Represent the interests of HASLC at all proceedings, hearings, administrative tribunals and trials; 3. Assist in and/or conduct investigations surrounding worker claims and injuries; 4. File appropriate pleadings, motions, discovery, and other legal documents to fully represent the interests of HASLC; 5. Participate in an initiate discovery, including reviews of records and/or documents; 6. Coordinate the defense process with HASLC General Counsel, risk management team, and other HASLC departments; 7. Provide consultation to HASLC General Counsel, risk management team, and other HASLC departments; 8. File litigation reports with the HASLC General Counsel, risk management team, and HUD if required; 9. Present one (1) worker’s compensation/risk management training session for each contract year for the HASLC’s office staff on a pro bono basis; 10. Provide periodic reports in a form prescribed by HASLC to the HASLC General Counsel, risk management team, HUD, or others as directed; 11. Comply with HASLC billing guidelines.
