Specifications include, but are not limited to: This work includes the removal and replacement of a partial concrete lid at the Telco vault (Behind 509 Main Street). A new concrete lid will be poured-in-place. Ames Electric Services crews will remove an underground transformer from the Telco vault after the Contractor has removed the concrete lid and prior to the new lid being poured-in-place. The work shall consist generally of, but not limited to, the following steps: Approximately an 11’-2” x 8’-8” concrete panel in the center of the vault lid shall be removed first by the Contractor using the lifting eyes on the panel. Utility crews will remove the existing underground transformer from the vault. The Contractor will construct a plywood ceiling immediately under the remaining concrete roof prior to removal of the remaining concrete lid. This ceiling must have sufficient column strength to prevent concrete from falling into the vault and damaging the electrical equipment inside the vault. The ceiling will also be used to support a poured-in-place concrete top. The Contractor shall pour-in-place a new concrete lid per attached drawings.
