Specifications include, but are not limited to: Preventive Maintenance, Level 1: Listed below are all items for preventive maintenance to be performed every six (6) months or one hundred (100) hours, whichever comes first. 1. Check lubricating oil. Add as required. 2. Check radiator/cooling system. Test as required. 3. Check fuel sediment bowl. Clean as required. 4. Check air cleaner and crankcase breather. 5. Check warning lights. Replace as required. 6. Check fuel lines and hoses for pliability and leaks. Replace as required. 7. Check cooling fan and governor belts for wear and tension. 8. Check engine block heater and thermostat. 9. Check battery charger. Adjust if necessary. 10. Check, clean and service battery. 11. Check instruments and calibrate as required. 12. Run generator under load if possible. PRIOR AUTHORIZATION IS REQUIRED. 13. Check and operate any/all outside motorized mechanical air intake louvers. 14. Check and operate generator alarm warning system. Preventive Maintenance Level 2: Listed below are all items for preventive maintenance to be performed every twelve (12) months or five hundred (500) hours, whichever comes first. 1. Perform all Level 1 maintenance items 1 through 14 shown above. 2. Replace spark plugs and spark plug wires per manufacturer’s specifications. 3. Replace ignition points and condenser, per manufacturer’s specifications. 4. Replace engine-lubricating oil and filter per manufacturer’s specifications. 5. Check radiator/cooling system and antifreeze. Replace lost coolant and pressure test. 6. Replace fuel filter. 7. Replace air filter(s) 8. Check distributor/magneto. Adjust as required. Replace cap. 9. Check engine battery, changing generator/alternator. 10. Check starter operation. 11. Check and lubricate governor. Adjust as required. 12. Check exhaust system. 13. Check day tank, float/switch and fuel transfer pump operation. 14. Check external wires for contact and wear. 15. Check rotor bearings. 16. Check solid state circuits, rotating diodes and rectifiers. 17. Check F/R activator, rotating optic, stationery LED or rectifiers. 18. Clean static exciter, collector rings, and communicator. 19. Check safety shutdowns. 20. Test automatic transfer switch operation, clean and adjust if accessible. PRIOR AUTHORIZATION IS REQUIRED. 21. Check logics and connections. Adjust as required. 22. Check exerciser. Test and adjust as required. 23. Test and operate generator warning system alarm. Testing Transfer Switches: All testing of transfer switches will be done at the hours designated by the WPC Division or the Buildings and Grounds Division. Testing for all facilities will be performed on weekdays between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Prior authorization is required. Generator Testing: Any testing of generators will be performed in accordance with the State of Connecticut requirements governing Generator Operations. The Contractor must fill out all generator Log Books when service is performed.
