Specifications include, but are not limited to: Line Item 1 - Lop and Pile – Ponderosa Pine (Units # H-14, O-14, H-18, H-21, H-22 H-23P, H-24, H-25): ALL juniper species < 24 inch diameter at root collar will be felled and piled. ALL Pinyon Pine < 15 inch diameter at root collar will be felled and piled. (Root Collar refers to the diameter of the tree measured at the root collar or at the natural ground line, whichever is higher.) Retain all Ponderosa Pine and Gamble Oak regardless of size. Douglas-fir, white fir, and limber pine will not be cut Aspen if any, will not be cut. All cut material less than or equal to 8 inches in diameter will be piled. Remaining boles greater than 8 inches will be bucked into lengths no longer than 4 feet and left unpiled. Remaining boles will be cut in a manner that results in the boles completely touching the ground but not touching other remaining boles. Piles will not be constructed in the drip lines of residual trees. Piles will be located outside of any riparian vegetation and at least 50 feet from the edge of any stream, spring, or wet meadow, whichever is greater. Piles will be located away from existing large down dead logs. Piles will be contructed in a tepee style with smaller branch wood on the inside of the tepee and larger bole wood covering the outside layers of the pile. Pile dimensions will not exceed 8 feet in height and 10 feet in diameter. Trees will be completely severed from the stump leaving a MAXIMUM stump height no greater than 6 inches measured on the uphill side. ALL branches below the stump cut must be severed. Line Item 2 - Lop and Scatter – Ponderosa pine (Units # H-15, H-16, H-17, H-20, H-23S): ALL juniper species < 24 inch diameter at root collar will be felled and slashed. ALL Pinyon Pine < 15 inch diameter at root collar will be felled and slashed. (Root Collar refers to the diameter of the tree measured at the root collar or at the natural ground line, whichever is higher.) Retain all Ponderosa Pine and Gamble Oak regardless of size. Douglas-fir, white fir, and limber pine will not be cut Aspen if any, will not be cut. Trees will be completely severed from the stump leaving a MAXIMUM stump height no greater than 6 inches measured on the uphill side. ALL branches below the stump cut must be severed. Tree boles will be cut in a manner that results in the boles completely touching the ground but not touching other remaining boles and branch wood completley severed. Branch wood will be lopped to achieve no more than a 24 inch slash depth. Tree boles will be cut into lengths not to exceed 4 feet in length.
