Description of the commodity that USM is seeking to procure: SeaSonde Long-Range Radar Unit, 110V tuned for a user-specific frequency below 11 MHz. SeaSonde Combined TX-RX Antenna tuned for a user specific frequency>20MHz SeaSonde Receive Antenna tuned for a user specific frequency <11MHz 2. Explanation of why the commodity is the only one that meets the needs of the agency: Funding has been received from NOAA to continue to operate the USM HFR stations. We are currently trying to replace and repair items that were damaged during the 2020- 2021 Hurricane season and to buy a spare site to use for the entire GCOOS HFR Network including USM. For all the units to be compatible we need to purchase what is already operational. The network currently includes 13 sites spread across the Gulf Coast area. The Long Range High Frequency Radar system and does not have an equivalent plug and play system from another manufacturer. It is a specialized system. 3. Explanation of why the source is the only source is the only person or entity that can provide the required commodity: CODAR Ocean Sensors is the only manufacturer/vendor of the SeaSonde Long-Range Radar Unit, 110V and SeaSonde stand alone antennas.
