Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Utah State Board of Education (USBE) Teaching and Learning team seeks an educational partner to provide instructional coaches and educational leaders, specifically those who serve teachers in grades Preschool through grade 3, with: 1) Professional learning on NCTM’s 8 effective mathematical teaching practices 2) Effective strategies related to mathematical coaching 3) Continued professional learning (PL) for those who engaged in prior coaching cohorts. Over the 2021-2023 school years, instructional coaches across the state engaged in a series of professional learning experiences focused on NCTM’s 8 Effective Teaching Practices. These experiences were provided as a suite of supports for LEAs connected to legislation supporting reading and mathematics instruction in early learning (grades k-3). Supporting early learning systems is a focus of the Utah State Board of Education and we are looking forward to continuing this work with LEA leaders and educators into the 2023-2024 school year and beyond. This professional learning design will consist of at least 16 unique professional learning (PL) experiences composed of a mixture of in-person and virtual sessions to provide balanced access for statewide stakeholders. Each of the minimum of eight (8) full day, in-person sessions will be facilitated three times at geographically diverse locations across the state, while each of the minimum of eight (8) 90 minute to 3-hour virtual sessions will be facilitated a single time including all participants, resulting in a total of 24 in-person sessions (8 PL experiences x 3 locations for each experience) and eight (8) virtual sessions over a two year period.
