Specifications include, but are not limited to: 1. The asbestos containing floor tile/mastic throughout the Building will be abated within negative pressure enclosures consisting of critical barriers of 6 mil poly sheeting covering HVAC vents, windows, and openings. Two layers of 4 mil poly sheeting shall cover all enclosure walls. Areas where only floor tile/mastic are to be removed, a 4’ poly splash guard may be used. Areas where no flooring materials are to be removed, two layers of 6 mil poly sheeting shall cover enclosure flooring areas. 2. The TDSHS-required viewing window will be installed at each enclosure. 3. A three-stage wet decontamination unit will be attached to each containment. The water from the decontamination unit will be properly filtered and exhausted into the domestic sewer. The containment will maintain a negative air pressure differential of -.02” of water until satisfactory Phase Contrast Microscopy (PCM) clearance results have been achieved. 4. The floor tile/mastic will be removed using hand tools. The floor tile mastic will be removed using a low odor solvent and buffing machines. 5. The asbestos materials will be sealed and properly disposed of in approved and properly labeled asbestos bags. 6. Half-face respirators may be worn during the asbestos removal. Fit test documentation will be provided prior to the start of work. Fit tests must not have exceeded 1 year.
