Specifications include, but are not limited to: Provide for wildfire hazard reduction by mechanically removing/shredding standing live and dead pinyon pine and juniper trees and saplings with a wheeled or tracked MECHANICAL MULCHING/SHREDDER (Bullhog). Bids should be submitted on a per/acre basis and total cost basis. Per acre and total bid prices will include all mobilization and operation costs. There will be no fuel surcharges or adjustments negotiated. There will be no government provided materials for this project. Project area totals approximately 1096 acres as identified on attached site map. Mulching: 1. All regrowth pinyon pine and juniper trees less than 8 feet and any standing dead within the designated treatment area are to be removed. 2. No live limbs shall be left on the stumps of cut trees and stump height shall not exceed 6 inches measured on the uphill side. 3. All main branches or stems shall be cut from the trunk of the tree. 4. All surplus vegetation and slash shall be mulched or cut, such that no woody piece is greater than 3 feet in length. 5. Any pinyon pine or juniper tree or sapling that cannot be removed by bull hog machinery must be removed by a hand crew utilizing chainsaws or loppers. 6. Mulch depth shall not exceed five (5) inches. If mulch exceeds six inches in depth the Contractor shall spread the mulch either mechanically or by hand. 7. Mulch 85 to 90 % of mountain brush in the fuel break with priority on retaining bitterbrush in ¼ acre irregular shape clumps.
