Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Kansas Commission on Veterans Affairs is seeking competitive bids for the position of Medical Director for the Kansas Soldier’s Home, Fort Dodge, KS. The contract term will be date of award through July 1, 2028. The primary contacts for this position after the bid is awarded will be the Clinical Director and the Director of Nursing. 4.1. Minimum Qualifications: 4.1.1 Must be a Licensed Physician and authorized and in good standing to practice in the State of Kansas and have a minimum of two (2) years’ experience as a Licensed Physician. 4.1.2 Must have admitting privileges and follow patients at the local hospital, Western Plains Hospital, Dodge City, Kansas 4.1.3 Response time to the KSH facility of thirty (30) minutes. 4.1.4 Preferred experience of working with the VA. 4.1.5 Preferred long-term care experience in Medicaid and Medicare certified facilities. 4.1.6 Preferred Geriatric Specialty. 4.1.7. Must meet the Medical Director requirements of the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) 38 C.F.R. parts 51 and 58, plus, Centers of Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) regulations located at the following site: www.cms.gov . 4.2. Services and Responsibilities of the Medical Director: 4.2.1 To provide general medical consultation, treatment and services for the residents of KSH in accordance with standards set by the VA, CMS and the Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services (KDADS) for residents of long-term care. 4.2.2 Conduct initial evaluations within 48-72 hours of each resident upon admission to the facility, unless the resident has a local Primary Physician. The evaluation shall include: a report on current medical findings, diagnosis, orders for immediate care of the resident, and a medical history.
