Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Virginia Department of Transportation, herein referred to as “VDOT”, is soliciting bids from qualified firms to perform unplanned/on-call (site specific) landscape maintenance services within the Staunton District along the right-of-way/VDOT facilities within the counties of Alleghany, Augusta, Bath, Clarke, Frederick, Highland, Page, Rockbridge, Rockingham, Shenandoah, and Warren. This solicitation will result in the establishment of one (1) contract to be awarded on a GRAND TOTAL BASIS. The work shall consist of, but not limited to: tree/shrub planting, watering, weeding, mulching, brush cutting, rototilling, core aeration, weed eating, mowing, general manual labor, grading, sediment removal, place/haul stone/rock/soil, and disposal of all generated debris. Types of work locations include, but are not limited to: plant beds, storm water management structures, roadsides, facilities, lawns/yards. All work shall be within the Staunton District along the right-of-way/VDOT facilities within the counties of Alleghany, Augusta, Bath, Clarke, Frederick, Highland, Page, Rockbridge, Rockingham, Shenandoah, and Warren. • October 2 – December 15: Mowing/Weed eating Stormwater Management Structures (2- Person Crew + Slope Mower) • November 13 – November 15: Tree Planting Activities (3-Person Crew + Various Hand Tools) • January 14 – March 1: Stormwater Management Structure Maintenance/Repairs (2-person Crew + Various Equipment and Hand Tools) • May – 2 Days: Plant Bed Maintenance (Predominantly Pulling Weeds) (1 Day Alleghany & 1 Day Clarke County) • June 1 – June 15: Mowing/Weed eating Stormwater Management Structures (2-Person Crew + Slope Mower) • July – 2 Days: Plant Bed Maintenance (Predominantly Pulling Weeds) (1 Day Alleghany & 1 Day Clarke County) • September – 2 Days: Plant Bed Maintenance (Predominantly Pulling weeds) (1 Day Alleghany & 1 Day Clarke County) • On-Call, As Needed: Stump Grinding Other activities may arise which require landscape maintenance services, but the above estimated work schedule is listed to provide a general expectation as to the volume of work anticipated. The above estimate is not a guarantee of work and VDOT reserves the right to increase and/or decrease work activities.
