Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Department of Natural Resources, Division of Geological and Geophysical Surveys is soliciting proposals for a qualified contractor to assist with As Needed Surficial Geologic Mapping Investigations in Alaska. The services are as needed, and the budget amount is an estimate only and does not represent a work commitment. The Division of Geological & Geophysical Surveys (DGGS) conducts geologic mapping in support of STATEMAP projects and other Division activities that support State interests. Geologic mapping objectives may include resource identification and assessment, providing information to support planning and development activities, and informing Alaskans about geologic hazards that might affect their safety and well-being. The geologic mapping required by the contractor may be at reconnaissance level, or at greater detail depending on project objectives. The intention of this contract is to provide support for DGGS staff to conduct mapping activities for project-specific investigations on an as-needed basis. The level of support requested may vary from project to project depending on the time and availability of DGGS staff and the scale or complexity of the project. A contractor might complete geologic mapping independently with oversight and support from DGGS, but generally work will consist of one or more of the following: (1) assisting staff in developing preliminary geologic maps through desktop investigations, (2) assisting staff in conducting field work to refine geologic mapping, and (3) developing and reviewing final map products.
