Specifications include, but are not limited to: 1. Cultural Resource Identification Efforts. a. Contractor will complete cultural resource literature search, background research, data review, etc. of the entire APE (2,220.0 acres) plus a one-half mile buffer. This will include a review of standard background research sources such as UtSHPO’s Sego system, General Land Office records, relevant National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) historic contexts, etc. b. Contractor will complete pedestrian intensive level archaeological survey (15m transect intervals) of the entire APE. This includes: c. Consultant will document all newly documented and previously documented cultural resource sites within the APE in accordance with UtSHPO and USFS guidelines on Utah Archaeological Site Forms or Utah Historic Site Forms as appropriate. d. In accordance with UtSHPO guidance, consultant will revisit and document all previously recorded cultural sites within the APE when previous cultural site documentation is more than ten years old, or the site condition has changed since its original recording. These documentation efforts will be completed in accordance with UtSHPO and USFS guidelines on Utah Archaeological Site Forms or Utah Historic Site Forms as appropriate. e. Use digital datums and flag any recommended-eligible discrete sites with pink flagging for avoidance with a 50ft buffer. 2. NRHP Evaluation. a. Consultant will evaluate newly recorded cultural resource sites for NRHP eligibility and will reevaluate NRHP eligibility for previously recorded cultural resources revisited in the APE. 3. Recommendations: a. Consultant will recommend an avoidance strategy to avoid adverse effects on all NRHP eligible cultural resources within the APE.
