Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Albuquerque Public Schools Board of Education seeks a superintendent who will implement solutions to accelerate student achievement, engage families and the community in student success, and continue to address learning challenges exacerbated by the global pandemic. The candidate must be committed to supporting the goals and guardrails identified by the APS Board of Education and have the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to uplift student voices, bring families into decision-making, and support all staff to help realize student success. Finally, the candidate needs to understand that learning is most effective when students feel supported and have access to physical, social-emotional, and behavioral health services. Search firm tasks include but are not limited to: 1. Maintaining the confidentiality of all information and data provided or gathered during the search process. 2. Working with the Board to determine desired and required superintendent characteristics and qualifications that align with the APS community's vision (goals) and values (guardrails). This includes gathering and incorporating public input. 3. Working with the Board to determine candidate evaluation criteria emphasizing improved student outcomes. 4. Working with the Board to create a candidate search and recruitment plan to include an initial salary and benefits package, an advertising scope, and all scheduling milestones. 5. Working with the Board to develop a job description and then working with district staff to create an application and promotional materials to reflect established criteria. 6. Developing a plan to announce and advertise the position with all appropriate media, colleges and universities, professional organizations, and other entities as warranted. 7. Working with district staff to gather information about APS and the Albuquerque community – including their vision, values, and priorities – to share with and attract prospective candidates.
