Specifications include, but are not limited to:Contractor will need to remove the existing bridge superstructure, deck and beams. Contractor will remove all of the abutment the furthest from US 2, and will remove a minimal amount of the abutment closest to US 2 to facilitate the location of the temporary bridge which will have the same finished grade as the existing bridge. Contractor will need to reduce US 2 down to one lane to be able to use a crane to accomplish a lot of this work unless they have other means to accomplish it. Once those portions are removed the contractor will look to install a 80 foot single lane temporary bridge provided by the state to be picked up by the contractor at 1170 US 2. The contact for the temporary bridge is Sven Scribner (802) 522-8090. The temporary bridge will be founded on one waste block per corner in the final position, the far side will need stone fill to armor the stream bank in front of these blocks. The approach for the far side will consist of gravel and will look to bring that area back up to grade. The contractor will need to provide 2 sheets of ¾ inch pressure treated plywood and (5) 2X6’s pressure treated, these will be used to make a backwall on the far side at the end of the temporary bridge to keep the fill from spilling under. The bridge will be placed without the decking and then decking will be installed after. The weight of the bridge without decking is roughly 26,000 pounds and once the decking is installed will be roughly 47,000 pounds. The state will provide technical oversite of the installation at no extra cost to the contractor.
