Specifications include, but are not limited to: A. SPACING 1. Contractor shall leave uncut the largest trees of the preferred species, of good form and vigor that will maintain an average spacing as specified by unit below: Units: 4010, 4194, 6026, 3044, 3066, 3041 14 Ft x 14 Ft Spacing Units: 3226, 4048, 4120, 7064, 7065, 3031, 3096, 6029, 6092, 3059 15 Ft x 15 Ft Spacing 2. The spacing between individual leave trees may vary from the average but only when necessary to avoid removing desirable leave trees. B. CONDITION OF STEM 1. The leave tree stem shall not be scarred during the thinning process. 2. Cut tree stumps shall be less than 12 inches tall. C. SELECTION CRITERIA by Unit 1. Trees shall be left in priority species order as follows: Western Red Cedar; Douglas-fir; Western Larch; Grand Fir; Ponderosa Pine; Other Conifers; Hardwoods. 2. Contractor shall leave uncut the largest trees of good form and vigor that will maintain an average spacing as specified by unit above. 3. Cut trees shall include all surplus trees not needed to meet the average spacing and trees that are dead, diseased, insect infested, or deformed in such a way that a 16-foot log cannot be grown. No trees over 9-inch diameter at the stump height shall be cut unless diseased or deformed. D. MISCELLANEOUS 1. All ditches, roads and trails, shall be kept free of thinning debris. 2. Hardwoods shall be cut if within 13 feet of a conifer and over half the height of adjacent leave tree. 3. All thinning debris must be removed from roads and trials immediately. 4. Contractor is responsible for any trespass damages, inspection and identification of property lines prior to thinning. If any questions remain, Contractor shall avoid any trespass and shall contact the Forestry Department for assistance.
