Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Library is seeking the services of a vendor for library print materials (e.g. books), including processing and catalog record services for those materials. The Library regularly purchases library materials for use by the general public, staff, other libraries and Municipal departments—any and all patrons who use the Library system. In order to facilitate purchases of the magnitude and variety required by the Library system, a vendor with a large and varied inventory representing a large number of publishers and formats, and the ability to satisfy the conditions outlined below in Section 3 is needed. 3.2.1 Inventory: (a) Maintain an inventory consisting of at least 150,000 book titles and at least 5 million volumes, representing at least 15,000 publishers, consisting largely of major mass-market publications but also including large-type, children and young adult, Alaskana, and foreign titles. (b) Order and provide desired titles not in warehouse inventory in a reasonable period of time. 3.2.2 Collection Development Capabilities: (a) Provide analysis of library’s existing materials collection (including generation of online and printed reports) to aid in library’s profiling of that collection. Provide reports on library’s collection detailing areas requiring renewal, replacement, or further development. (b) Provide selection lists of library materials to aid library staff in selection. 3.2.3 Ordering Capabilities: (a) Provide electronic ordering capabilities compatible with Sirsi Symphony online system, providing for either 9xx order download or EDI, at the library’s discretion. (b) Electronic ordering system and bibliographic inventory database providing online fulltext reviews of library materials (vendor will indicate source of reviews) and real-time inventory status of materials. (c) Order records will contain appropriate OCLC record numbers when available. (d) Option of ordering by mail, toll-free by phone, as well as electronically.
