Specifications include, but are not limited to: Line Item 1 - Lop and Scatter –Riparian/Sagebrush: 39 acres ALL juniper species will be felled and slashed. ALL all other conifers < 12 inch DBH will be felled and slashed. Trees will be completely severed from the stump leaving a MAXIMUM stump height no greater than 6 inches measured on the uphill side. ALL branches below the stump cut must be severed. Branch wood will be lopped to achieve no more than a 24 inch slash depth. Tree boles will be cut into lengths not to exceed 4 feet in length. Trees marked with orange flagging (approximately 50) should be felled as whole trees into the stream. Additional treatment specifications: Servicing, refueling or staging of equipment (within 150 feet of all riparian areas) and cutting of deciduous vegetation along the edge or within the stream channel should be avoided within 100 feet or to the outer edge of riparian vegetation, whichever is greater, along perennial streams, ponds, and groundwater dependent ecosystems (e.g., springs and wet meadows). Avoid cutting of deciduous vegetation along the edge or within the channel of intermittent streams. With the exception of trees marked for dropping whole into the stream cut material should not be left in perennial and intermittent stream channels channel. Protect range allotment improvements (fences and water developments). Line Item 2 - Lop Scatter – Private lands: 146.5 acres All pinyon and juniper trees standing within the project boundaries shall be completely severed from the stump(s). All downed pinyon and juniper trees that have branches standing greater than five (5) feet must be cut from stump and scattered. Some downed trees may need to lop and scattered to meet the five (5) feet height standard; if so, all downed trees that lay greater than five (5) feet off the ground shall be lopped and scattered so that below specifications are met. Additional treatment specifications (applies to all cutting units): Cut material will be lopped and scattered so that slash height does not exceed 24” above the ground. Cut material left on site shall not exceed 48” in length. Cut material will be spread in ephemeral washes and draws where possible to help reduce erosion.
