Specifications include, but are not limited to: The City of Ames is requesting proposals for professional engineering services to design an emergency standby power system for the City of Ames Power Plant. The design will include a fixed generator of sufficient capacity, manual transfer equipment, distribution networks, and implementation of the design into current plant electrical systems. Task 1. Electrical Configuration and Preliminary Design Provide Engineering calculations and drawings for the electrical design of an emergency standby power system for the Power Plant. The design will include calculations, drawings, equipment specifications, and any other special instructions for installation that are needed to facilitate the installation of the standby electrical system; including, but not limited to the following: generator, conductors, conduit, transfer switches, protection devices, etc. The scope of work should include any necessary site visits to gather information for the design of the system. Prepare a memo outlining the planned improvements. Consultant will meet with City staff to review recommendations. After all comments are addressed, the document will become the basis of design. Task 2. Regulatory Permits Work with the City to identify permits needed for construction and operation of the generator. Assist the City with application of permits. The City will provide any application fees required. Task 3. Final Design Prepare plans and specifications to obtain bids for the work based on the basis of design report. Provide milestone review opportunity for City staff. Consultant will also need to prepare an opinion of probable construction cost.
