Specifications include, but are not limited to: The State will operate this ROV with a crew of 6 persons of which 2 will conduct operation and navigation of the ROV in Southeast Alaska. Environmental conditions include air temperatures as low as –15° F and water temperatures as low as 31° F. Typical operation will be from the State's 105' research vessel. However, the State may at times deploy the ROV from smaller vessels or other locations. The ROV will generally be operated from the vessel’s cabin with a crewman tending the umbilical from on-deck. The control box must be independent of the control unit to allow the pilot to control the unit on-deck during release and retrieval operations. Umbilical storage and deployment will be conducted using a drum that is hand-operated or by an electric winch. The State intends to operate the ROV in areas with extreme weather, tides and currents. The unit will be operating in strong (up to 2 knots) currents and depths to 300 meters. The offered unit must be of sufficient size to operate in such currents but small enough to be manually launched and retrieved by 2-3 persons. The ROV will be powered by the research vessel’s onboard generator system with single-phase power available. When in use on smaller vessels the unit will be powered by a portable generator. The unit must have universal single phase power input 90-250 VAC.
