Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Iowa DOT is seeking competitive bids for an Iowa licensed plumbing contractor to provide all materials, labor and equipment necessary for the excavation around the Iowa DOT Ames complex fire hydrant and sprinkler PIV to determine a water leak issue and repair the plumbing line and remove and replace any lines that are cracked or broken. Project includes removal and disposal of tree. Excavate area around fire hydrant and sprinkler PIV to determine water leak issue, look north of PIV. Repairs to plumbing line to be made after excavation showing issues. Lines underground are assumed to be 10'-0" below grade and are 6" diameter cast iron. Remove and replace any line(s) found to be cracked, broken. The amount of linear feet to be replaced is not known at this time, assume minimum of 20 LF of 6" cast iron to be replaced. Work with Owner to coordinate work. Include tree removal in pricing. Provide unit prices of pipe replacement, labor/hour, concrete CY. Follow all OSHA standards for shoring, open trenches, safety of area. Locates to be done prior to work starting, private lines will be done by DOT, a known fiber optic line is very near the fire hydrant area and will need to be protected. DOT is seeking an Iowa licensed plumber for completion of this project.
