Specifications include, but are not limited to: CPUD currently has a 70 kW propane-fueled Engine-Generator in the headquarters’ gated yard which does not have enough generation capacity to deliver full load to the entire headquarters when in operation. The current system has 1,000 gallons of propane storage, which does not allow the unit to operate for the desired two-week outage period. CPUD proposes to construct a new Engine-Generator to provide standby power when there are grid outages. The Engine-Generator will be designed to provide sufficient backup power in the event of power outages due to inclement weather or a major Cascadian Subduction Zone earthquake. The power generated by the Engine-Generator will also feed two local transformers for two additional businesses. The Engine-Generator will automatically start when the utility supply is lost.
