This sole source justification applies to the purchase of preventative maintenance, service, repairs and parts for laboratory instrument BD BACTEC™ MGIT™ 960. The OSPHL invested in BD Life instruments with the purchase of BD BACTEC™ MGIT™ 960 Instrument in 2002. This instrument is used for the antimicrobial susceptibility testing of mycobacterium including SIRE and PZA. The BD BACTEC™ MGIT™ 960 instrument operates in conjunction with the BD EpiCenter™ Data Management System which allows for long-term data storage and historical trending, as well as a bidirectional interface with a LIS. This enables long-term tracking of individual TB patients, infection control and epidemiology analysis.
