Specifications include, but are not limited to: For locations listed on the awarded region(s), the successful bidder shall be responsible to provide all materials labor and equipment necessary to remove, transport and dispose of pit and brine sludge to a disposal facility. 1. Frequency Pit sludge will be removed on an as needed basis, typically once in the spring and once in the fall from each location in the 13 regions. Dates to be agreed upon mutually between the Iowa DOT and awarded vendor(s). Brine sludge removal may be requested as needed from holding tanks. 2. Locations. Thirteen regions across Iowa with individual locations making up each region. A map and table have been provided in Attachment A detailing the physical locations included in each of the 13 regions. Locations noted IN RED are reclamation garages and must have their entire contents of drains removed, no decanting is allowed. 3. Quantities. a. Approximately 900 gallons of oily sludge/water per individual location identified in the 13 regions per cleanout. This sludge has not been classified as hazardous waste in the past. b. Brine sludge will be removed on an as needed basis. Approximately 2,000 gallons per location per cleanout. Approximately 1 to 2 locations per region per year. This sludge has not been classified as hazardous waste in the past. c. On occasion a vendor may require the use of a jetter to clear obstructed or clogged lines. 3. Availability. All Iowa DOT shop hours are 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Monday-Thursday. Disposal on Fridays would need to be pre-arranged as Iowa DOT shops have different hours on Fridays. Locations are not available for work on state and federal holidays. Twenty-four hours in advance of work, notification must be provided to the Iowa DOT shop contact. The contact list will be provided to the awarded vendor(s). The Iowa DOT will ensure a point of contact is available at the shop and ensure cleanout areas are accessible.
