All correspondence must be made through the Vendor Portal. Specifications include, but are not limited to: 1. Pick up and safely load from the University and transport to the broker’s facility, or other appropriate facility, packaged low-level radioactive and mixed wastes. 2. Provide emergency notification capability to meet DOT requirements. 3. Treat (by compaction or other means) and re-package radioactive wastes as necessary for the final disposal at the low-level radioactive waste disposal facility, operated by U.S. Ecology Corp., Richland, WA., and ensure that all radioactive wastes meet the waste acceptance criteria for that site. 4. Identify suitable EPA permitted facilities for treatment and disposal of mixed radioactive wastes, and transport packaged mixed wastes to those facilities within prescribed time limits. 5. Assist the University in preparing wastes for shipment by providing required labels, packaging instructions, shipping manifests and documents and other information as needed; assist with waste packaging, if requested. 6. Furnish to the University Director of Radiation Safety or authorized representative appropriate documentation, such as respondents proof of receipt of shipment or signed manifests, showing proper disposition of all waste. 7. Maintain complete tracking of the wastes throughout the process from pick up at the University through final disposition. 8. Time from pick up at the University to delivery at the disposal facility in Richland, WA should be on average less than six (6) months for routine waste.
