Specifications include, but are not limited to: Montana State University, Bozeman has a US Army contract to develop a specialty carbon composite/epoxy prepreg at a pilot plant level (TRL 6). A key step in that process is the precision slitting and winding of epoxy/carbon fiber prepreg. The Slitter incorporates tension controlled unwind, web guiding based upon the prepreg center line, precision shear slitting, and precision winding. Bidder to fabricate and assemble the equipment per the supplied drawings in their shop. The materials for the machining will be supplied by the Bidder. Hardware, such as bearings, motors, gearboxes, etc., per the BOM will be supplied by MSU. Small incidental hardware, such as fasteners, lubricants, etc., shall be supplied by the Bidder. The Bidder shall supply the controls scheme, diagram, and wiring and pneumatics for the Slitter. MSU will provide the major pieces of equipment per the Bidder’s documents. A general description of each system operation is included. The electrical and pneumatics shall be completed in the Bidder’s shop and tested with an MSU representative before shipping.
