Specifications include, but are not limited to: The City of Maquoketa is requesting bids for individual sidewalk repair work. Final quantities will be paid by actual measurements done together and agreed upon by both contractor and the Maquoketa Public Works Department. 1. A list of locations with number of panels and square feet needing to be replaced is attached. The number and locations of sidewalks to be repaired may be altered at any time during the course of the project. 2. Panels to be replaced are marked with spray paint. 3. All work must be done in accordance with the City’s sidewalk specifications and standards. (attached) 4. Contractor will coordinate with the Maquoketa Public Works Department regarding removal of any roots from City trees that are affecting sidewalks. 5. Contractor will meet with Public Works Department prior to any repair and take before and after pictures. 1.) Concrete. Air-entrained Portland cement with a minimum 4,000 PSI shall be used in the construction and repair of sidewalks. 2.) Construction. Sidewalks shall be of one-course construction. 3.) Sidewalk Base. Concrete may be placed directly on compacted and well-drained soil. Where soil is not well drained, a three (3) inch sub-base of compact, clean, coarse gravel, sand, or cinders shall be laid. The adequacy of the soil drainage is to be determined by the Building Official.
