Specifications include, but are not limited to: Bid Item 1 - Work under this item shall consist of the furnishing all materials, equipment, and labor for the furnish and installation of hot mix asphalt walk surfaces and driveway aprons. The contractor shall perform all site and preparatory work, and all incidentals thereto not paid for other items on this bid, remove debris, excavate rock, topsoil and earth, provide and place all materials per relevant provisions of Section 701 of the most current Massachusetts Highway Department Standard Specifications for Highway & Bridges specifications, with all finished surfaces meeting ADA requirements. Sidewalk excavation shall be included in the bid price, no separate payment will be made. Encountered various utility services gate boxes that require adjustment, and miscellaneous signs, mail boxes, parking meters, light posts and drain sump pump outlets that require removal and resetting shall be included in this bid price. No separate payment will be made. HMA shall be placed in two lifts each with a finish rolled thickness of 1-1/4”. Pavement shall be Class I Bituminous Concrete Pavement Type I-I and it shall be installed using a power propelled bituminous paver with an activated screed or strike-off assembly capable of spreading and finishing bituminous material to meet the specified thickness, smoothness and grade. A 3 to 5 ton vibratory roller shall be used to sufficiently compact the newly placed asphalt. Bid Item 4b - If deemed necessary and approved by the Town to excavate below 8” from bottom of sidewalk, or more than two feet wider than the finished sidewalk width, the extra excavation will be paid for separately under Item Unclassified Excavation. Bid Item 5 - Mobilization unit price shall be charged for each location where services are rendered for approximately two mobilizations in the Town of Milton. For the purpose of this bid, the Town assumes that contractor will mobilize at least twice to complete this work, one in the Fall 2023 and another in the Spring 2024.
