Specifications include, but are not limited to: It is the intent of the City of Lincoln, Nebraska hereinafter called the “Owner” to contract with multiple qualified Vendors for repair services, as deemed necessary by the Owner, on a variety of construction and purpose-built equipment. 1.1.1. The work performed under this contract will primarily be associated with the City’s Solid Waste Management Division, although the City’s (heavy) Fleet Management Division may occasionally request repair services. 1.1.2. Maintenance – defined as the equipment manufacturer’s recommended periodic services at predicted intervals – is included in the intent, on a per request basis. 1.1.3. The Owner may elect to participate in manufacturer’s preventive maintenance programs independent of the work requested and performed under these terms. 1.1.4. Work performed will be warranty repairs and non-warranty repairs. 1.1.4.1 Warranty repairs must be performed by authorized service and/or warranty providers. 1.4.1.2 Non-warranty repairs may be provided by Vendors who are in the business of providing repair services and are deemed acceptable based on references, experience, shop capacity, field service capabilities, staffing, etc. The Owner maintains a large fleet of construction and purpose-built equipment which require repair exceeding in-house capabilities. 2.2. Due to both the size and diversity of the fleet it is necessary to utilize Vendor resources to repair such assets in the most cost effective and efficient manner. 2.3. In an effort to optimize both internal and external resources, the Owner is seeking to contract repairs on an equipment and event specific request basis. 2.4. Providing field service for extended periods during critical operational periods, or on holidays observed by the Vendor but for which City operations continue, is essential. 2.4.1. The Solid Waste Management Division closes facility operations only three days per calendar year: those being New Year’s Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day. 2.4.2. Field service may be requested to support critical operations that arise when the City and County equipment assets are deployed in response to natural disasters, snow and ice events, and other emergencies requiring extended operational periods.
