Specifications include, but are not limited to: To abandon in place the existing 6” water main that is located under Lancaster Ave and Crabbe St due to repeated leaks and line brakes along this section of main. The section of main to be abandoned begins in the parking lot on the North side of the Carloftis Gardens and continues under Lancaster Ave to the intersection with Crabbe St. It then continues under Crabbe St to the intersection with University Dr. Install a new 10” main in the lawns of the EKU facilities (McCreary, Cammack, Roark, Coates) on the East side of Lancaster Ave. Final location and route of new main is to be determined through the design process. Remove fire hydrants from Lancaster Ave sidewalk and install new ones along new main as needed in the lawns of these buildings. Continue the new main (preferably through the Ravine if possible) to the Heat plant on the East side of University Dr. Connect to or replace existing building water services as needed to maintain domestic and fire water services. Tie to existing mains as needed to maintain water service beyond the scope of this replacement. The Ravine and Lancaster Avenue areas of campus are aesthetically very important to the University therefore, it is our wish to preserve/restore the existing trees, hardscapes, and landscaping throughout the chosen route of this project. The routes indicated on the attached maps are for illustrative purposes only and the University is open to any suggestions both, physically and financially, for completing this project.
