Specifications include, but are not limited to: This Request for Proposals (“RFP”) is an invitation to prospective Suppliers to submit Proposals to provide over the road case carts for The University of Iowa; Over the road carts travel throughout the hospital and to the dock where they are loaded via truck to a cleaning facility (Integrated Services Center ISC). The over the road depicts when they are transferred via truck. Case carts will not be traveling any faster than walking speed, will need to work with existing equipment detailed herein and will be completely sanitized. Over the road carts currently have Colson blue Urethane wheel, Kingpinless, with 8" with 1 1/2" max width wheel, all steel components (fork, mounting plate, axle, bearings, swivel locks, pedestal bearings, washers and locking springs, etc). The University would like this style or similar of longer lasting quality and hold up to cart washing chemicals and wear. Please detail how the proposed equipment meets the following needs: 1. Must fit within Courion Lift guides and shop drawing requirements; 2. Must be heavy duty, durable (please provide evidence of material durability); 3. Easy foot operation (wheel locks as shown); 4. Four swivel casters with two total foot activated direction lock mechanism and ability to total lock two casters. 1. Please show on drawing where should be located to support loading into Courion lift. 2. Ability to use on tugger for directional support. 3. Totally lock all wheels for movement on the truck. 5. Include “Lock Wheels Before Loading” sign; 6. Outline how Suppliers casters reduce noise 7. No Zinc plating 8. Casters, wheel and components rated for 250 degrees 9. Alternative options for casters will be accepted that provide equal or better durability/quality (Supplier to outline why/how).
