Specifications include, but are not limited to: • Collaborates with school personnel, such as teachers, psychologists, and other related service personnel to meet the needs of all students • Provides language classroom interventions as part of Response to Intervention (RTI) • Conducts speech/language screenings using appropriate screening instruments • Administers formal and informal speech/language assessments based on individual student needs • Observes students in the educational environment • Analyzes and interprets information to make recommendations regarding the need for speech/language services • Prepares evaluation summary and reports in a timely fashion • Develops Present Level of Educational Performance (PLEPS), Goals and Benchmarks for Individualized Educational Programs (IEP) within the IEP Plus program Reports progress toward goals in IEP Plus • Serves as member of the IEP team as appropriate • Communicates effectively to school personnel and parents • Provides speech/language based activities commensurate with students’ abilities, interests and aptitudes • Selects and implements speech/language evidence-based practices which support the goals and benchmarks • Uses a variety of equipment, materials, devices and aids • Manages the materials and equipment, including assistive technology, necessary to the delivery of services • Adjusts speech/language intervention strategies based upon student performance within District Policies and Procedures • Abides by professional code of ethics • Demonstrates awareness of professional performance in due process matters and litigious environments • Schedules speech/language services using a variety of service delivery models, including classroom, consultation/collaboration and pull-out as appropriate to meet the students’ needs in the least restrictive environment • Submits to the building Principal and Director of Student Services and maintains schedule for occupational therapy screening, diagnostic assessments, therapy/instructional services and other activities • Provides and follows schedules for assigned schools and informs building principal of departure from schedule • Maintains records of the speech-language program ,prepares periodic reports, submits data collection to DISTRICT, the Department of Education and the Medicaid Cost Recovery Office • Participates in District-wide professional development as appropriate
