Specifications include, but are not limited to: The following is a request for proposals for Education Classrooms Building 67 Demolition. The University of New Mexico (UNM) requests written proposals from General Contractors to provide construction services for the demolition of the Education Classrooms Building 67 – 2000E Las Lomas Rd. NE, located in the heart of UNM’s main campus in Albuquerque. A comprehensive code assessment report for the building was completed in 2022. With a surplus of classroom space currently and the structural issues with the building, it was deemed that the best path forward is to demolish the building and replace it with a functional green space. An inventory of the property within the building has been compiled to expedite the removal for reuse of the furniture, fixtures, & equipment prior to demolition. Building 67 is located in the College of Education Complex Heritage Zone as designated by the UNM Campus Heritage Preservation Survey. The building demolition will need to be performed with particular sensitivity to the existing surrounding campus landscape and buildings. The building is located in a highly visible and heavily trafficked corridor of campus. The demolition project requires careful control of the project site, management of logistics relating to pedestrian and vehicular access, and proactive communication between the project team and the campus community. The scope of work is further delineated on the appended construction documents (project description, construction drawings and specifications) compiled by the design team in conjunction with UNM.
