Specifications include, but are not limited to: The system is capable of dynamically testing brakes and/or ABS on trucks, buses and other heavy vehicles with up to 44,000 lb axle loads. (Standard: 32,000lbs) The system complies with the US DOT FMCSA-98-3611 (FR 48799), “Functional Specifications for Performance-based brake testers for commercial motor vehicles. The ABS test checks the function of individual wheel speed sensors, ABS valves, automatic traction control (ATC) valves, ABS and ATC warning lights and wiring harnesses. The test must also confirm proper communication between the ABS ECU and the engine ECU and the retarder relay. The ABS test results are recorded automatically without operator input. The vehicle ABS to control system communication is wireless. The system provides step-by-step messages to the operator via an electronic signboard and indicates “pass” or “fail” at the end of the test. The results, including ABS, are automatically archived and printed without operator input. The results indicate which brakes and which ABS components, if any, are defective or fail to meet predetermined performance requirements.
