Specifications include, but are not limited to: HVAC Pumps General Information: 1. Pumps allowed in HISD Design Standard are as follows. Paco, Taco, Aurora & Bell & Gossett 2. All quotes for repairs shall be reviewed before any work is authorized. 3. HISD shall purchase new pumps as necessary. Please provide your discount off list for all type and size pumps and include your list price with proposal. 1. General inspection: a. check for visual problems like cracks in housings or flanges, rust and scale build up, couplings condition if any, missing components, damaged or missing cooling lines. 2. Mechanical fits: a. Pump shaft: measure bearing surfaces, seal or packing area condition, shaft run out, keyway condition, any threaded holes, impeller mounting area b. Housing: Measure bearing surfaces, condition of mechanical mating surfaces, condition of sealing surfaces, oil or grease seals c. Seal: d. Mechanical seal components and type: should be suitable for type of material being pumped, temperature and pressure e. Packing: type and size should be suitable for application with proper placement of packing joints f. Impeller: g. Impeller should be checked for shaft fit including thread or key-way fit, all wear surfaces must be checked for proper clearances and run out, inspection of impeller for signs of damage due to cavitation, impeller should be balanced on pump shaft to NEMA specs 3. Assembly: a. Pump should be assembled with good quality fasteners of grade 5 or better with anti seize material on thread surfaces, gasket surfaces should be clean and flat, gasket material should be compatible with material and temperature pumped. b. Correct lubrication material compatible with bearings installed. c. Mechanical seal should be installed per manufacture dimension and condition. d. Ball bearings should be installed using good shop practices in a non contaminating environment. e. Type and load rating should equal original equipment standards
