Specifications include, but are not limited to: This work consists of the supply and delivery of Portland Cement Concrete, of the Class specified, and associated items as shown on the bid sheets. Materials: 1. Concrete - Portland Cement Concrete shall conform to Section 812 of the Departments Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction Manual, August 2001 except as amended herein. 2. No material shall be accepted without prior approval of the source. The Engineer shall be provided the opportunity to inspect the source or plant prior to and during the supply or production of material. 3. All material shall be inspected, sampled, and tested and/or shall have a certified analysis furnished by the manufacturer and approved by the Materials and Research Section prior to acceptance. Any material supplied prior to approval or written permission of the Engineer shall be supplied at the contractor's risk and may be considered defective or unauthorized and will not be paid for. Final acceptance of the materials will be made at the latest practicable time the Engineer has the opportunity to check compliance. Tests will be made by and at the expense of the Department unless otherwise noted in the contract. 4. All materials shall be handled carefully and in such manner as to preserve their quality and fitness. The material shall be delivered to the location designated and unloaded. Transportation shall be by tight vehicles as to prevent loss or segregation of materials after loading and measuring. Material damaged by mishandling in delivery will not be accepted. 5. All material shall be subject to testing by the Engineer at the delivery site. The results of such tests shall be final and binding upon all parties concerned in this contract and subject to the conditions contained herein. The costs of removal and replacement of any defective material shall be borne by the contractor.
