Training and Technical Assistance for Home Visitors Methodology &Work plan Develop/adopt a set of core competencies to guide training and technical assistance activities. A plan for outreach and marketing to home visitors to communicate training and technical assistance support and professional development opportunities. A proposed strategic plan in the form of technical assistance, which can be provided in a variety of ways, including but not limited to: - Telephone conversations - E-mails - One on one meetings - Group meetings - Webinars or video conference A plan for facilitating four quarterly meetings with program supervisors/administrators to introduce the concepts ofreflective supervision. A plan for convening annual networking meetings for home visitors. Provide technical assistance that is specific to the needs of individual programs and sites. Provide administrative support as needed to register participants for training, arrange space, etc. Establish priorities and develop a schedule of wrap around and advanced training sessions that include topics like those listed below: o Identifying and Assessing Parental Mental Health Issues o Identifying and Assessing Parental Substance Abuse Issues o Identifying and Assessing Domestic Violence in the Home o Dealing with Children’s Mental Health Issues o Recognizing and Responding to Child Abuse and Neglect o Child Development o Connecting Families to Community Resources o Trauma Informed Services o Building Collaborative Relationships with Families o Safety Issues in the Field o Client Engagement and Retention o Managing Angry and Resistant Clients o Staff Retention o Time Management
