Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Bexar County Hospital District dba The University Health System is soliciting sealed bids for the 2 nd floor Physical Therapy & Occupational Therapy Renovation at the UHS Pavilion Building located at 4647 Medical Drive, San Antonio, Texas 78229. The University Health System Hospital (UHS) is located in the San Antonio Medical Center at 4502 Medical Drive. The project consists of renovations to relocate the PT/OT Outpatient services currently on the third floor of the main hospital building. The site is located within the jurisdiction of the City of San Antonio. The Architectural scope of work to be included in the project area to be renovated is the 2 nd Level portion of the UHS Pavilion Building, a total area of approximately 10,000 gross square feet. Construction activities must produce minimal noise to be respectful to the adjacent clinical spaces. It is anticipated that after hours work will be necessary. The second level includes spaces for PT Gym and treatment rooms, administration functions and counseling, and some Occupational Therapy functions. The gym consists of clear open spaces with a patient lift, exercise equipment with adequate clearances and modular wall systems as well as conventional wall framing in a well lighted environment. Renovation includes demolition of masonry wall, gypsum board ceilings, batt insulation removal as well as removal of perimeter metal stud framing. Saw cut opening of precast concrete panels for new windows. PT/OT staff areas include doctor and staff work areas with counters and storage space throughout as well as a residential type kitchen application. The goal of this project is to provide a collaborative healing environment for the patient, caregiver, and family. This care model is called Family Centered Care, and is intended to create the best possible healing environment for the patient through the careful attention to lighting, both natural and artificial, HVAC control, acoustics and noise control, and color. Participation by the family in the patients physical development and healing process will be encouraged through a space which is calming, comfortable, and encourages communication between the family members and the caregiver Special attention to colors, natural light, warm dcor and acoustical art panels also define the space and contribute to enhancing the overall environment of care. Functional work spaces will support the needs of the staff.
