Specifications include, but are not limited to:Water Main Replacement, Force Main Construction, Street Reconstruction & Incidentals. This project is for the replacement of the water main, the installation of a new 24” sanitary sewer force main and street reconstruction including street lighting and traffic signals.The sanitary sewer force main proposed under this project is a segment of a larger project that will ultimately result in a new force main being completed from the downtown area to the Wastewater Treatment Plant. Once completed, this force main will provide relief to the Broadway Sanitary Sewer Interceptor during periods of wet weather flows which at times can be at maximum capacity. The existing water main to be replaced is 10” cast iron pipe (CIP), which was installed over 100 years ago and is being replaced to minimize impacts and costs associated with breaks. Replacement of the water main with DR18 PVC pipe will correct the situation. The water main will be upsized to 16” & 20” PVC to achieve better fire flow rates throughout this area. The street section on 4th Street South from Main Avenue to 2nd Street South is being reconstructed along with the installation of a new 24” DR25 PVC sanitary sewer force main, the replacement of the existing 12” vitrified clay pipe (VCP) sanitary sewer main with SDR26 PVC and the installation of a new 14” DR25 PVC sanitary sewer force main that will replace the existing 16” cast iron pipe (CIP) sanitary sewer force main that is currently in service. The installation of the 24” DR25 PVC sanitary sewer force main on Main Avenue will use a cut and patch process to minimize disruption to traffic.
