Specifications include, but are not limited to: Laboratory Services 1. Consistently order and maintain an available supply of Delaware-specific DBS cards. 2. Provide Dried Blood Spot (DBS) cards to all primary and secondary collection sites. 3. Provide for shipping and delivery of DBS specimens from all birthing sites and secondary collection sites to testing laboratory in accordance with the recommendations made by the U. S Secretary of Health and Social Services, Advisory Committee on Heritable Disorders in Newborns and Children (SACHDNC). Short Term Follow-up Services 1. Receive abnormal results from the screening laboratory on a daily basis 2. Ensure directives on each abnormal result are provided by a Newborn Screening Medical Consultant and directives are carried out. Examples of directives include contacting Primary Care Provider for a prompt repeat or immediate referral to specialist. 3. Ensure prompt follow-up of unsatisfactory specimens. 4. Ensure correct demographic information for infant is obtained. For those infants for whom incorrect or missing information is recorded on the DBS card, locate infant and primary care provider for infants with abnormal results and or missing demographic information.
