Specifications include, but are not limited to: As part of the West Dover Connector project, W. North St. was to be rehabilitated by patching cracked/broken concrete sections, seal smaller cracks, and finally overlay the existing concrete pavement with an ultrathin hot-mix overlay. After reviewing the necessary patching areas and the fact that the concrete is 30+ years old, it has been determined that reconstruction of the W. North St. would be a more economical and long term solution. We began to analyze the costs to reconstruct W. North St. as a permanent repair by using innovative solutions such as precast concrete pavement panels. These panels will be used in the intersection of Saulsbury Rd. and W. North St., however, precast concrete panels can be expensive and should only be used in high traffic sections. Cast-in-place concrete is economically the better solution if traffic maintained around the construction area.
