Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Prairie View A&M University – Agriculture Program proposes the development of a new building to be planned and designed as a state-of-the-art Meat Laboratory. The Meat Laboratory is planned as Phase 1 of the PVAMU Agriculture Comprehensive Plan. This building will be equipped with state-of-the-art technology. The proposed Meat Laboratory will contain educational, research and administrative facilities, which will be planned and designed to foster collaborative teaching, research and extension efforts. The planned site for the Meat Laboratory is directly north of the Calf Pens and Hay Barn, and south of the Goat Center on the west side of the N/S Farm Road. Efficiency of operation and design of electrical, HVAC, refrigeration etc. are of utmost importance. The program goals for the Meat Laboratory are: Provide a meat processing laboratory for both educational and research purposes; with a demonstration kitchen and classroom spaces integrated with the meat processing suite; Live-stock pens which will support the meat processing laboratory; Locker rooms and showers for facility staff; The facility should be planned to be provide adequate parking for drop-off of animals and students/visitors for labs and demonstrations.
