Specifications include, but are not limited to: Qualified Contractors to enter into agreements to perform various improvements consisting of basic weatherization work on single family homes of qualifying low-income Austin Energy (AE) customers. This Solicitation is for basic weatherization services which include, but are not limited to: sealing the home envelope and duct system to address air infiltration, installing attic insulation, duct repair or replacement, installing solar screens, smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors, high efficiency window air conditioners, LED high efficiency lighting, faucet aerators and low flow shower heads. Depending on the results of a pilot project, the City may elect to engage Contractor for HVAC tune-up. Some of these measures will be provided through partnerships with Austin Water Utility and other partners. Homes in need of structural repairs will be referred to the Housing Repair Coalition and other agencies. Homes having non-functioning furnaces or gas issues will be referred to Texas Gas Company. Additional community outreach will be optimized by partnering with non-profit organizations to align services for AE customers, as needed.
