As an option, it is requested that a separate price be quoted on replacing the wood stringers and decking. All wood decking is to be treated with Micronized Copper Quaternary (MCQ) and not CCA. Any portion of the MCQ treated wood that touches any metal is to have a piece of vinyl or copper placed between the wood and metal surfaces before attachment. This is to be done so the wood is not in direct contact with the metal frame of the bridge itself. There are to be three 4”x4” stringers running the entire length of the bridge (75’-1.5”). These will run down the middle and along each side of the bridge. All 4”x4” stringers are to be half- lapped together where an angle iron cross member is located. Two stainless lag bolts will be used to join the stringers together and one additional stainless bolt will be used to connect the half-lapped 4”x4”s to the angle iron cross member with a stainless washer and nut. This lag bolt must be countersunk in the top of the 4”x4” to assure a smooth surface for the deck boards
