Specifications include, but are not limited to: Cedar Posts Technical Specifications The posts shall be 8 feet in length with a diameter of not less than 3 inches and not more than 5 inches. The posts shall be white or red cedar, straight or slightly crooked, and sound with all branches hewn flush to the post. The small end shall be square cut and the large end shall be pointed. The bark need not be removed. The crook or bend of the post shall be such that a line drawn from the center of each end of the post doesn’t fall outside of the center of the post by more than the diameter of the post. Also, the crook or bend shall not be so great so as to interfere with the ability to adequately secure the sand fence to the posts. Salt Treated Posts Technical Specifications The posts shall be 4 inches by 4 inches, 8 feet in length. Lumber shall be surfaced on all sides. All posts shall be treated with ACQ 0.60 pcf or approved equal. Posts shall bear the grademark, stamp or other identifying marks indicating grades of material and rules or standards under which are produced. Bundle marking will be permitted in lieu of marking each individual piece. Moisture content of posts at the time materials are delivered and installed shall not exceed 25% for lumber 4 inches or less, nominal thickness. Species and grades shall be listed in NDS-05. Posts grade shall be No. 2 minimum.
