Specifications include, but are not limited to: The City of Bismarck, North Dakota (City), is issuing a Request for Proposals (RFP) from engineering consultants to study developing a fiber optic network system for communications with the traffic signal system throughout the City. The study is to develop for short-term and long term plans. The short-term needs of the fiber optic network would be to connect the City’s traffic signal cabinets with a fiber optic network that would provide the City with an upgraded communications network. The fiber optic network will be utilized to transmit data and video back to the public works facility and the current city/county building. The City has existing fiber optic interconnect in place that should be incorporated into the plan. The selected consultant will evaluate the existing traffic signal interconnect and communications equipment and determine what upgrades will be necessary to implement a fiber optic network.
