The Bureau of Land Management’s San Juan Islands National Monument is seeking to lease office space in Friday Harbor, WA, to support its mission of preserving and protecting the unique ecological, cultural, and historical resources of the San Juan Islands. The Monument encompasses approximately 1,000 acres of Bureau of Land Management (BLM) lands across more than 450 islands, rocks, and pinnacles in Washington State’s Puget Sound. The BLM manages the Monument in close partnership with local communities, Coast Salish tribes, and other stakeholders to ensure its conservation and public enjoyment now and into the future.
Our local team includes two full-time employees, with up to two seasonal staff during the field season, and periodic visits from mainland-based staff and partners. We are looking for 900-1,200 square feet of space that can accommodate this flexible staffing model while providing a welcoming and functional environment for our conservation and outreach work.
Ideal space requirements include:
- Office space for 2–4 people
- A small meeting area or shared conference access
- Storage space for field equipment and outreach materials (e.g., interpretive displays, brochures, event supplies)
- Reliable internet access and basic utilities
- Convenient access for staff and occasional visitors
- toilet and break room facility access
- parking for 2 vehicles
Expressions of interest should include the following information, at a minimum:
1. Building Name and address
2. Location of available space within the building and date it will be available
3. ANSI/BOMA office usable square feet
4. Rentable square feet and rate per RSF, specifying services, utilities, and tenant improvements allowance included
5. Common area factor used to determine RSF
6. Building ownership information
7. Amount and cost, if any, of parking available on-site. Specify whether rental rate includes the cost of required Government parking (if any)
8. Energy efficiency and renewable energy features existing within the building
9. Buildings and parking offered must meet all current Federal, GSA/PBS, State, and local codes and regulations including but not limited to fire and life safety, ABAAS, OSHA, and seismic protection.
10. Name, address, phone number, and email address of authorized contact
