The Department of War Military Health System is responsible for ensuring that all medical personnel are trained and have the clinical proficiency needed for large-scale combat operations, individually, and as teams. This requires a healthcare system that is ready to deploy, ready to receive casualties, and can fully integrate with the private sector to optimize the movement of patients throughout the direct and purchased care systems.
Pursuant to the authority of 10 U.S.C. §4022, the Defense Health Agency intends to award an Other Transaction Agreement to partner with commercial medical providers to enhance the readiness of Military Health System. In accordance with 10 U.S.C. 4022(f)(2), a follow-on production contract or transaction may be awarded following the prototype if the participants in the transaction successfully complete the prototype.
